I was glad it was still June. In June, nothing bad happens; old songs sound new...

Bits of our weekend: Father & Sons Antiques.
After our brunch, we walked around downtown and ended up browsing in Father & Sons Antiques.

Bits of our weekend: Brunch at Capital Club 16.
Several people have recommended this place to me so Dan and I were optimistic about our meal.
The pros: Nice decor (even though it’s a little cramped), strong drinks (even though they’re on the higher end of brunch drink prices for this area), and a friendly hostess.
The cons: Slow service, inattentive server and, most irritating, freezing cold food! Pictured below is...

Bits of our weekend: Lunch at the Old Havana...
Dan had been wanting to try this place forever. Located on Main Street in Durham, it was a little hard to find. The interior is gorgeous- open and airy with lots of character.
We both got the same sandwich for lunch- El Caney, which has slow roasted pork, avocado, cheese and mustard.
We already can’t wait to go back!

Take me out to the ball game
Last night we went to a Durham Bulls vs. Buffalo Bisons game.
It was a gorgeous summer night.
And I got free cotton candy!

Anonymous asked: You take too many unnecessary photos with your iPhone. It doesn't make the food look appetizing at all.

Bits of our weekend: Movies All Over the Park.
After dinner at Mount Fuji, we attended “Movies All Over the Park” at Durham Central Park.
There were six screens set up all over the Farmer’s Market and Central Park areas, and there were an assortment of short films being shown.
Among the many films we watched bits and pieces of, we saw a skateboarding safety film from the ’70s, some cigarette commercials (Durham pride!) from the ’60s,...
Dan Hacker Photography →
danhacker:
This past weekend Jess & I took some time to create a new online portfolio to showcase my photography, one that looks much more appealing to new and potential clients. We even got a new shiny domain name for Dan Hacker Photography. There will be some tweaking over time of it, but so far I’m really pleased with how it looks.

Bits of our weekend: Dinner at Mount Fuji.
On Friday night, we had dinner with friends at Mount Fuji in Brightleaf Square.
Dan and I split a bunch of their amazing sushi rolls.
Since it was Friday night and we were sitting outside, we got to enjoy a free concert while we ate.
This week’s band was The Design and they were very fun!

No One Can Take A Bath For You: Why I Write →
charlsie:
There are a limited number of human emotions, and this is why we all write about the same things. But this doesn’t bother me, because it’s not really the same thing. My idea of love is not your idea of love. And my experience of love certainly isn’t yours. My entire existence is mine alone, and yours is yours alone. There is this existential saying: No one can take a bath for you....
